Although there is no \u201ctypical\u201d or one-size-fits-all sermon for Episcopal congregations, the sermons in this series are selected for their universal qualities so that they may be useful to a wide variety of congregations, especially those without full-time priests on staff, where lay leaders often shoulder the responsibility of delivering the sermons on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To assist and inspire these and all our congregations, the Office of Communication of the Episcopal Church offers&nbsp;Sermons That Work, new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.episcopalchurch.org\/sermons-that-work\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\"><strong>sermons<\/strong><\/a>,&nbsp;<strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.episcopalchurch.org\/bible-study\/\">Bible studies<\/a><\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.episcopalchurch.org\/what-we-do\/weekly-bulletin-inserts\/\">bulletin inserts<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;each week for Sundays and major feast days throughout the liturgical year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea of supplying congregations with sermons or homilies dates back to the&nbsp;<em><strong><a aria-label=\"Articles of Religion (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.episcopalchurch.org\/about-us\/articles-of-religion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\">Articles of Religion<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, which were established during the English Reformation in the sixteenth century. Article 35,&nbsp;<em>Of the Homilies<\/em>, lists 21 homilies that were considered \u201cgodly and wholesome\u201d for congregational use (Book of Common Prayer, pp. 874-875).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carrying on that tradition, the Episcopal Church has been offering&nbsp;Sermons That Work online since 1995.&nbsp;Browse our&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.episcopalchurch.org\/sermons-that-work\/year-c\/\">archive<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;of hundreds of sermons, grouped by lectionary years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sermons That Work is edited by
